  1. Thanks to you all for spending your time to keep things running for us all.
  2. LOUD good progress on this lunibuggy, when will it go public and where? Must see this in real life
  3. Today I have painted and fitted my bucket seat to the home made MK 4 seat runner, I painted it too, this being well out of character for me! Just need some new wheels now for the runners. I have also been removing all interior carpet, sound deadening and trim, centre console, gear stick gaiter and such like, so lots of paint showing in the car now. As a result of removing seats, I have had to buy a couple of 2.2 Ω resistors, these will be wired into the car on the white and green cable on the passenger side and white and blue on the drivers side, I have given them a quick try and they work
  4. Here are a few pictures from my day fabricating seat runners and brackets to allow by Buckets seats to be fitted in the Golf, it was a fiddly job and more work has to be done tomorrow as the passenger seat is not fitted yet, I have half fitted my harnesses too, this will be finished tomorrow. A trip to Maplin too for some 2 ohm resistors to keep the air bag light off! Seat out Gluing the brackets to the base. Eye bolts fitted to the threaded holes where the rear seat belts fitted.
  5. Bucket seats going in tomorrow and then a track event on October 8th. I will take pictures of seat fitting as I am using the moving seat bases too, hope my idea will work
  6. The rear ARB can't fit any other way around, there are allsorts of things in the way, I did a direct replacement of the old one. Might have to check a manual My front ARB is R32 spec I was told these are the same, I think the shortening of the link was necessary as the bracket on the strut is slightly lower on the GAZ than the OEM.
  7. Haven't checked the bushes, they passed an MOT so can't be that bad, I will get the pry bar out at the weekend.
  8. Thanks Lukey, I think they are made from dead moths as they are sooo light it is hard to believe, each wheel is about 9 kg compared to the TT reps I took off that were heavy.
  9. Panasonic is usually good gear, our plasma is now 5 or 6 years old, look on the brightside mate, no TV means you can spend time on the Corrado or even with the family practicing the old art of interaction! Hope you get it sorted soon
  10. Been to Tweeks this morning, got my laser alignment done and the new wheels fitted, grip is very good in the dry on the way home, ride is firm and I even got 30 mpg from it! I have spent this afternoon removing rear seats and plastic trim, it is surprising how heavy a back seat is and especially little things like inertia real seatbelts, anyway they are all gone too. Latest picture of the heavy beast on new wheels.
  11. A quick question about ESP on my Golf. The problem occurs at roundabouts! Driving at sensible speeds, in fact even at 20mph, turn right on a roundabout and the ESP takes over, applying the brakes and illuminating the disco light on the dash, drive straight again and everything is normal. To even things up I found a nice left hander to drive around, no lights or ESP takeover, I have scanned with VCDS and nothing shows up (except the usual HVAC flap position) Steering position sensor is set at 0' when in the wheels are in the straight ahead position. So, as you can imagine I am now
  12. Little update, I called in to Demon Tweeks today to ask where my wheels are, 6 weeks have passed since I ordered them, I was told that they haven't been made yet! Order cancelled and an alternative choice made. New choice Team Dynamics Pro Race 3 in graphite grey, partly because they were in stock and of course because I like them, so out to the tyre fitting bay to have 4 Federal 595 RS-R tyres fitted and this is where the fun began! Two tyres went onto the rims ok but the other two would not seal on the bead, there is a profile inside the rim that is quite square edged, the tyre ha
  13. I will see what I can do, I will be in Brussels from Sunday through to Thursday, I know 100 miles isn't far. What is the deal on getting on the RR?
  14. never mind fuse 31, it is miles away from me, not as far as Brooklands but still over 100 miles each way, I travel about a 1000 miles a week for work so I will be giving this a miss, I may well go once I have attached a turbo just to see what increase I have but as a stock car I don't see the point.
  15. ok, I have already replaced the haldex and diff so a bit dubious of the fuse pulling, think I will give it a miss.
  16. What event did you do at Bedford? I went to a How Fast there, it was a great couple of hours. Weight saving on a MK 3, take the side impact bars out of the doors, they weigh heavy as does the sand bag sound deadening under the carpets. I stripped out a MK 3 GTi, surprising how much can be removed.
  17. Very clean lines and fresh look, however we look very much like clublupo but that is not a bad thing as we have one of them too. Pat on the back for all involved in the hard work
  18. Massive project mate, you certainly have given yourself a challenge, looks like it is making steady progress, good luck
  19. This event is not far away now, would anybody else be interested in stretching the legs of there VR at Oulton Park?
  20. Nex, the auxillary belt was brand new, it had only done 25 miles it was replaced with the alternator, apparently this can happen sometimes? Not convinced myself, I think I might have fitted slightly off on one pulley. The steering arm wasn't cut, I had to cut the drop link to the anti roll bar, I fitted an R32 front ARB, it has a slight bend up, so with the full length drop link the ARB touched the wishbone, 1" removed and sleeved all fits nice.
  21. As I have only posted the pictures of the rear suspension. Some pictures of the front strut and arb with drop links as modified. FARB has two holes to put the drop link through, I currently have them in the furthest forward hole, we can see how it goes before I start moving things about. You can see the ditch finding Autoguard tyre on this picture that came with the wheels I got as an interim set. This also shows the back of the FARB you will see how it goes under the driveshaft and attaches to the strut just under the spring, you can just make out on the drop link where I sleeved and welded
  22. Well after todays fiasco I am ready to burn the big pink pig ! I am calm now honest, plan was to collect the car and fetch it home, so I got a train and set off, collected the Golf and set off for home, within 200 yards the traction control light came on and reduced the throttle response, ok, I thought I can sort that at home with vcds, then half way home the alternator light came on and the temp rocketed, you've guessed it, auxillary belt had been thrown off, called the RAC, man in a van attended after one hour, to tell me the auxillary belt had snapped, this I knew, he then tells me that he
  23. I had to replace the Lambda on pre cat bank one on the MK 4, with the faulty sensor the ECU defaulted to a standard fuelling pattern that gave poor performance and a high tickover, after having a complete mare of a time changing the most inaccessible item on the car (the other three were more prominent) I got it switched out and replaced, now tickover and throttle response are really good as are the emissions as it passed an MOT today with good low figures. I also had some strange error codes as a result of low voltage, this might be worth checking.
