bennyk got a reaction from s3dxm in Dragon Green MK3 Recommission Project
Yeah by the time it's posted you you may as well get the lot from them,
Mine will start straight back up, it just seems to splutter to a stop some times, I'm going to try a different coilpack to see if it makes a difference.

Mine seems to cut out when warm....
If I take crank sensor out and give it a clean - put it back in it fires up straight away.
Local lad has arch liners, full lock set, glovebox £40.

I've got arch liners and a glove box, if you have no luck at local breakers
My blue VR occasionally cuts out on idle as well and that's been sitting for a while, it does have a crack in the coilpack casing though -

Got myself a cheap set of TT comp wheels that will do me over the winter months.
In need of refurb, but all can be done at home, local garage will remove tyres and refit for a box of teabags lol....
Yet again, rain has stopped progress!
Rear bumper removed, found a little more welding to tackle.....
Next issue is the random cutting out when at idle, checked everything out and looking like a crank sensor issue.....
So, do I go genuine or aftermarket?
Trip to the breakers soon for more bits too....
Arch liners,
Glovebox,
Lock set,
Never ending this game!!!!

Really good to see this being rescued! This car was built pretty much alongside mine at PF Auto's. In fact the stereo stuff that was the boot build is my old stuff from my VR!
Think its a bit unfair about the comments on the bodyshop as they did mine at the same time and it still picked up a trophy in it this year at EE. All that's been done in all those years is the front changed to Vento at Greg Howell's (Southam Bodys), rest of it is as it left PF Auto's, not bad considering I paid less than £1800 (sure Pete paid even less for the green one!) for all the bodywork and bumper mods and a full paint (excluding roof) colour coded 6 wheels too! My inner arches are a work of art if i'm honest, they spent days getting them to sit right on my wheels with no scrubbing.
Hopefully its salvageable, unfortunately it looks to me like its been sat and neglected unfortunately. I've got some great pics of the pair of them when we did E38 years ago on the PVW stand somewhere, will try and dig them out (not sure if they are digital even, lol)
Ironically one of my good mates now has a 3 door Dragon green one, so get pics with another one now! (Rysa from VRT on here)
Simon.

After you've done a Landrover defender box laid on your back on the driveway - a VR6 is a piece of cake lol....
Still, at least it's done and working again. -

Hi. I've lurked for ages. Probably popped up occasionally when I had my mk2 vr. But now have a new toy. I love it! The mk2 was aw some but this is just a bit more refined, seats I actually fit in, suspension that's firm but not crashing, no cabin that stinks of petrol due to deleted pcv. I could go on. But here's a pic of the new beast instead.

Hey guys,
Got some spare time on my hands so thought i'd upload some pics of my daily VR
Only had it for 2 years and already cost me a small fortune
Current mods are a full milltek exhaust system and Ram air induction, seeing just under 200hp
Engine is strong and had the chains re-done recently. Plan is to stay OEM although the Vento front end is really appealing to me right now.
Contemplating putting in a Rotrex charger
New wheels on....

Well, the rain had stopped. It was still a mild evening. Things started to dry out.....
Best crack on with the clutch and gearbox refit then!
All went well, no dramas.
Found it easier to remove the shifting tower to get it back together...
All bolted back up.
More or less complete and ready for a clean under the bonnet and to attack the brakes tomorrow now.
Found my goodridge hoses in the garage. Fronts are the correct ones, need to check the rears.
Calipers will get a coat of paint too.
Enough waffling for now, my back is sore and a need a beer lol.....
Hope for a dry day tomorrow and get cracked on!!

bennyk got a reaction from woodsy in Golf VR6 OEM Restoration
As some of you may know I recently bought another Golf VR6 from an advert headed 'VR6 disposal Essex' on here, from a very nice chap called Nigel.
It turns out Nigel had owned the car for 16 years and the only previous owner was a friend of his. Apart from a couple of photos that was all I knew about the car.
So I took the plunge sent a buddy of mine with a recovery truck over to Billericay to 'rescue' it.
Worst case if it's a basket case me and@bealieboy currently own a Mk3 van and would have been able to make use of the running gear.
Then this turned up.
Nigel had very kindly charged the battery for me and it drove off the recovery truck, happy days! It was a good start!
Here's a few more pics
After having a poke around I realised that this was not a bad car at all with 117k on the clocks though it has been sitting for over a year,
One of the most amazing things is that this is the worst bit of rust on the front wings!!
When I got a chance I put the car up in the air to see if the underneath was as solid as the top half and to my surprise it is!! and no oil leaks? With just a bit of a tidy up and reseal of the front jacking points needed! I wish my red one was this good underneath!!
So I treated it to a decent wash which I reckon was the first one for quite a while

That's what I've got for mine, quick mock up in place and they look quite reasonable.
Will have plenty paint and underseal on them prior to fitting and hopefully make them last! -
