  1. I could be wrong mate, I thought they were 288mm up front & 256mm at the back..... Haven't measured any mind
  2. It says that about my old Iroc-Z but I always had problems locating it on the interweb, was something to do with it being imported.
  3. Cheers buddy. It seems my 1st VR6 lasted 5 months after I sold it in September 2005 before being broken for spares
  4. How do you find that info out? I'd like to find out if 2 of my old cars have survived without me
  5. Afternoon all, I'm sitting here in a hotel room bored & was thinking about a conversation I had with a guy from work who owns an R32 about what I want to do to the Golf over the next couple of years. We we're wondering if the DSG box could be made to run on the 12v engine? I know it would need to be converted to FWD but could the wiring be sorted? Does the DSG box run it's own ECU or is it an integral part of the engine ECU? This is all theoretical at the moment but I've just been trawling ebay & DSG boxes don't seem to be too expensive.... My other idea is to buy a complete 2003/2004
  6. I'll get the garage that does all the servicing on my work vans to do it as it seems like a pig..... Plus laying under the car getting covered in oil isn't my idea of fun lol
  7. Is there a guide on the interweb or owt? Just so I know what I need & how it's done?
  8. Yeah mate. I'd never seen them on a mk3 but thought the fat 5 spokes & square edges would work with the shape of the Golf.... I was right
  9. Cool mate, I've a few sharp blades for the Stanley in the toolbox so will get on with it this week. Cheers
  10. They're from a Mk1 Skoda Octavia. I bought them cheap just to check fitment for 16's but I really like how they look.
  11. Mk1's are still my favorite Golf by far & I remember the peach VR6 one from the late 90's.... I always wanted one. Good luck with the project, it'll be awesome when it's up & running!
  12. Nice car mate, looks great. I plan on doing this this week while I'm working away, I've bought a sheet of Laminex 12"x9". Will 1 sheet be enough & is it easy enough to put on?
  13. Evening all, I haven't been able to find any evidence of the gearbox oil ever being changed & the gearbox is now starting to become very violent in shifting, also it whines quite loudly (don't know if this is a characteristic of the gearbox though) Is the gearbox oil change something I could do or does it need to be plugged into diagnostics to get it right? Cheers Jamie
  14. This is how she looks now Just about right height wise but really need the arches rolling so I can put the spacers back on.
  15. Well I had a free day so SWMBO gave me permission to go play with the Golf, so I drove over to the parents house, moved some cars around & got to work. 1st thing to do was to strip the door & remove the window/regulator Mt ghetto window closer Window & bit of wood out Next was to strip the door of the GTI & remove the bits I needed. I didn't take any pictures of this or the re-install of the regulator & window.... Mainly due to the fact that I was swearing at the stupid little gap in the door that I had to thread everything through. Got it all done &
  16. Bugger! That's not good but the main thing is you're ok. Hope she gets properly done for it!
  17. Epoxy ordered. £1.29 from the bay of E..... If it works then it's the cheapest fix I've done on her lol
  18. I'll have a look at the epoxy fix, as the crack is on the left hand side if the coil pack & I can get to it fairly easily.
  19. Me too mate. At the moment she's running fine, I've done about 200miles in her since I found the crack without any sparking or miss firing. It may have just been cos she'd been stood for nearly 3 weeks in the wet without running. I'm going to get the coil pack at the end of the month & see how it goes. And Pete..... I did that when I bought the car & she wasn't impressed when I came home with it, something along the lines of "why do we have another old golf sitting outside?! Are you going to lose a load of money on this one too?" I don't think I'll get away with bringing parts home f
