  1. I've got a spare mk3 one you can have buddy. I'll send it down to you & you can have a look at it at your leisure (it would be going in the if you don't want it)
  2. As above. I'd buy one for when I get around to turboing mine
  3. Are these going on a mk3 of mk4? If mk3 then them tyres won't fit. The standard size for the 16" wheels are 205/45/16 which I have on mine. 205/55 tyres will not fit under the arches....
  4. It's on the front of the unit facing the bulkhead. I had to get my phone in front & take about 20 pictures before I could make the number out. There's numerous units used on all models so you need to know what exactly is on yours.... Taking it off is the only real way to find out & this is what I'll be doing with mine this week so I can send it away to BBA for repair.
  5. Awesome car. Hope I get mine MOT'd before UD so I can have a proper butchers round.
  6. Nothing a little arch rolling won't sort mate
  7. This is awesome. Can't wait for it to be up & running properly. What power you hoping for when it's all set up? Also what exhaust are you running?
  8. Well I managed to get an hour free this morning, went to get the Golf out of the garage & the battery is flat..... So..... I left her there..... I thought that while I had some spare time I'd fit the bonnet lifters that I bought last month. You've all seen them before but here's some pictures anyway And a couple of her tucked up And the reason that I can't put a deep front spoiler or lower her anymore Too bloody steep Here's the offending item that stopped the MOT The ABS controller that needs remanufacturing. I'm hoping to get on to this next weekend
  9. It will look like a jeep mate but get the wheels on then you can sort the ride height
  10. I might have just got an arse if a tester then, I don't use that garage anymore though
  11. It won't be plug & play by any means. You'll also need the gearbox & all hydraulic pipes for the clutch as the 8v will be cable clutch & rod shift. Also you'll need the VR6 engine loom. I bought a VR6 rather than convert my old 8v, it's far, far cheaper.
  12. Glad to help mate. Sorry I couldn't be more specific but as there's so many adapters & so many different Merc wheels it's best to have both to hand before buying bolts.
  13. I've got one that I've just taken off the GTI I'm breaking. Perfect condition & it fits my 98 VR6 too if you need another
  14. On the ones I had the bolts from my Golf fit fine but I think they changed the hole size in the wheels to 14mm at some point so until you get the wheels you won't know but the good thing is the bolts from your golf will fit but will need cutting down for the adapters. It's better to buy new bolts though once you have the adapters so that you know they fit in them.
  15. I think come MOT time. There may be a problem if you have no auto levelling or headlight washers. I had big problems a couple of years ago in an e36 M3 that I had because the MOT test states that for HID lights the car must have self levelling lights & headlight washers..... Might have changed now though.
  16. When you but the adapters they come with the bolts to bolt up to the hubs. I think merc wheel bolts are the same thread but can't remember. You'll probably be best ordering the correct shorter bolts when you order the adapters. I think standard bolts have 25mm of thread on them but as you're going to be using 15mm thick adapters you'll need shorter bolts.
  17. As long as it doesn't catch on the arches it will be fine. 195/40's will help a lot too
  18. the smallest adapters you will get are 15mm so that would make an et of 18. 195/45/16 tyres will be fine on a 7" rim but you may need to roll the rear arches depending on how low you are. I'm running 6.5x16 on mine with et22 & 205/45/16 tyres. the rears need rolling & the fronts catch on the inner arch liner but that's it. I'm running -60mm springs though.
  19. How many miles did you do between checks? My very 1st VR6 liked to drink oil to the tune of 1litre every 700miles or so (it was a '96 & this was back in 2000) so I took it to VW where they told me everything was in spec as the engine specs say 1l of oil for every 1000km is normal.... Funny but the auto I gave now has done 2000 miles since I got it & the oil level hasn't moved.
  20. I'm sending the pump away for remanufacture as it's the pump or attached ECU that's causing the fault lights on the dashboard. When swivelonit did a diagnostics it came back with "terminal 30 low voltage" which is a fault on the ABS ECU. So I'm sending the lot away to get sorted.
  21. Evening all I'm going to be sorting the ABS pump on my Golf over the next couple of weeks & was wondering if there's a specific brake fluid that's in the car or is it all much of a muchness? The premium stuff at GSF is £4 for 500ml, will this be ok & how much do you reckon if need? Cheers Jamie
  22. Looking good mate, the hard work will be worth it when you're out driving it I really wish I new how to paint.....
  23. They look like they have pad wear sensors on them too....
