  1. Turned out it's the 130bhp variant. I can see it coming - another goosed turbo because he'll have driven everywhere on the turbo. Plus with it being a turbo it'll give him a false sense of performance so possibly another accident, but if not then most certainly more wreckless driving. I've been behind him on the journey to work & his driving makes me wince & brace myself, even when i'm many cars back. Overtaking when there's oncoming traffic & very little space to overtake. Clearly wants a front row seat in that race to get upstairs.
  2. Well thanks for the help. He even told me to go ahead & order the bulbs in. Then what does he do this morning? Yes, 2-3 months after buying the car, he goes into the back of someone at 50-60mph. He's off out picking up some Golf GT TDI now. No idea what bhp. That boy has issues.
  3. Cheers fella. Shame as i think that 3rd is similar to their quad SMD 509T bulb which is absolutely brilliant.
  4. There's a few 501s here http://www.crazyleds.co.uk/501-T10-LEDs.html but top 3 are capless. Would any of the top 3 on that page do? I understand they may well be cheaper elsewhere, but i've always been pleased with crazyleds products in the past.
  5. Sealing them clear plastic things you mean, that screw into the top? On the topic of which, are they supposed to be clear because these ones are frosted. Don't know if the plastic has weathered or if that's how they're supposed to be.
  6. What's the correct bulb for these? One is out & the other dull so replacement for LEDs is on the menu.
  7. Email sent off to CP4L to see whether they'll send out the proper one & also whether if they can't, can this be taken back to our local ECP place for a refund. This is the 2nd time that between CP4L & ECP they've ballsed up. Last time it was on a drive belt tensioner for a MK4 Golf TDI.
  8. It looks like there's only one Hengst on the carparts4less website & 2 Crosland ones. The fuel filter for some reason was the only non-Hengst one ordered - it was Crosland. http://www.carparts4less.co.uk/cp4l/c/Volkswagen_Golf_2.8_1998/p/car-parts/car-service-parts/regular-service/fuel-filter/?503440038&1&be276f0c0893931874e942579c02b4c0ddab41d9&000140
  9. Are we talking about the same part? I've just clicked that link & that eBay list doesn't look like the part i'm pointing to as they all look like mini radiators.
  10. I guess. I don't know what it's called so i hope we're talking about the same thing. The casing to it looks similar/same as the casing to a cartridge oil filter. Shame the photo looks poor quality on the PC though, as it looks clearer on my phone, or it did when i took the photo, but it looks a bit dark once i uploaded it. Cheers though.
  11. My brother has non standard alloys & tyre size on his VR6. 17" Porsche alloys with stretched 215/40 R17 tyres on them. Looking at the fuel cap it says this: Just wondering what the correct air pressure may be on this? His rear tyre had in 10psi, now we know that's wrong. The above photo suggests perhaps more than 2.9bar even based on the transition from R15 to R16 & i'm guessing it'd then increase when changing to R17?? No idea if the tyres being stretched would change anything?? But with 2.9bar being 42psi (sorry i've always worked in psi, not bar), isn't that really qu
  12. Sorry for Photobucket being crap & rotating my photo without bloody well asking. What's the part arrowed in the VR6 engine bay... Slightly to the right (as you look at the front of the car) of the oil filter.
  13. Brother was looking to do a service on his newly purchased VR6. I ordered in the parts for him after a bit of contact from on here (FAQ section). ECP suggested the oil filter was a cartridge, eBay suggested canister. This forum said cartridge & so on we went with that. His car is an R-plated (1997) VR6. Anyway, it seemed that carparts4less look to be under the EuroCarParts umbrella (similar to Admiral, Elephant, Diamond etc), selling the same parts but cheaper. I put his reg into the website, it returned some cartridge results & the purchase was made. He drains his oil today (s
  14. Yeah i was just saying (in that they'd no G12++ left). I knew they did it in 1.5L bottles, i just thought they'd do it in 5L too since many things come in 5Ls (screenwash, coolant from other manufacturers, oil etc). Still think the price is steep though, but hey, not my money.
  15. Since i finished work early i went for a drive & picked it up for him. Since when did works traffic start forming in the early afternoon though???! GRRR!!! Anyway, they said they don't do G12++ any more, it's now G13. They don't do 5L drums (bit stupid isn't it??) & they only do 1.5L containers. £26 for £4L!!!!! Steep or what!!!!!! By contrast, 5L from Vauxhall would cost average Joe £15.75+VAT, but as i get trade club discount it costs me £12.39+VAT. More juice for more than half the price. Don't think i could own a VW myself - parts & the like are just so damned expensive
