  1. Does anyone know the story with the different tensioner bolt? I know there's two different types, due to the two different chain/cover set ups.. But which one will I need if I'm keeping the original chain set up, which I believe is twin, and swapping the upper timing covered to one from an obd2 coil pack? Will the obd2 tensioner bolt work with the original twin chain set up?
  2. Thanks for that! Really detailed write up. To say I'm confused and feel like I've bitten off more than I can chew is an understatement haha. I had in my mind it.would be a case of swapping over the plugs and it would be good to go. I should really go down and have a look to see what I'm dealing with
  3. Ace mate cheers for that. How do I know which ones are on the engine bay harness only? Or do I just match the colours?
  4. Does anyone know if I have to swap the ecu to fusebox harness? Or some harness from the ecu. Some say no, just the engine bay loom, some say yes?! Also does anyone have a wiring diagram for an obd2 loom for plug identification?
  5. I think vw parts international has them. Give them a look:)
  6. Probably not massive. That is worst case scenario. Depends what sort of mileage you do, and how much past its best it really is.
  7. Must admit, that thing looks and sounds nuts!! But for that price? Could easy get a decent second hand charger set up, more power and probably easier to tune too!
  8. Looking for an obd2 upper timing chain cover, the part where the cam speed sensor sits. I think the part number is 021109127B. MUST be from an obd2 car:) Cheers
  9. Vw parts international have.. Think there abouts £22 a side for lemford once. Waw looking the other day:)
  10. Looking really good mate. Jealous of your engine set up!!
  11. Engine bay is looking lovely. Will sit real nice on those bbs's too! Top work mate
  12. Plan is to start it this Sunday, will take more than one day so let me know how you get on next Monday!
  13. Ah nice one. Cheers! All the bits should be arriving this week so will update with my progress
  14. Is it on some sort of 'L' bracket or are there bolts that go straight through and secure it? Might be a simple question but I've only ever seen my dizzy vr6 haha
  15. That's what I'm hoping. Can only really find threads on people doing it with corrado. But have read it's easier on the golf. Have you got a coilpack vr6? Was wondering how the coil pack itself is mounted..
  16. I hope so mate. Praying everything goes smooth, never been a fan of electrics/wiring!
  17. I've sourced a kit that includes a 2.9 synchro manifold which I'm told is better flowing than the standard obd1 inlet(similar to rads?) but will also work with the obd2 conversion.. Well I hope so haha. Dizzy obd1, converting to obd2 coil pack:)
  18. Ah nice one. Will give them a call Monday. Cheers:)
  19. Thanks Bealieboy. Decided I'm converting to obd2 before I remove the engine so I know it all works before I start taking it to bits. Wish me luck!
  20. Think all I need now is the camshaft Speed ring, 'hall sender' I think it's called? Part number 021905163? Can anyone confirm these differ between obd1 and obd2, and where I could get one..
  21. Guess I should be watching some wheeler dealers.. Aren't the doing a corrado vr6 soon?
  22. Dub power do a decent manifold I'm I remember..
  23. Taken the plunge and paid the man for that kit with everything in it. After a few messages I'm confident everything I need is there, so there should be no messing around! Little bit expensive but will make things alot easier!
  24. Think ive sussed out the upper timing chain cover, where the cam speed/position sensor sits.. But as for the tensioner? unsure what difference between obd1 and obd2 on this..
