  1. Quantum platinum 5w40 is the recommend oil (i stock and sell lot's to vr6 owners)
  2. ok temp sensor has not worked.... time to find a coil (to test as I will fit a new one if that solves the problem)
  3. It's done a few miles (about 180'000 but the engine checks out ok and has service history to show it's being looked after, no mention of chains being done but there's not rattle from it). I paid £750 for it which isn't much when you look at the parts value
  4. TPS Bradford are run by the Sytner group http://careers.sytner.co.uk/tps/bradford-tps (which is odd as the VW dealer that's in front of them are JCT600) The TPS brand is VW owned but the branches are not operated by them
  5. Well after owning several Mk3's I decided to join the VR6 brigade and see what the fuss was about and bought a project 1996 model As bought (pictured with my Mk3 anni), It has Recaro interior, coilovers (wound really low), Full milltek, cone filter and quite chains! and after owning for a few days she leaked all of her water out which turned out to be the matrix meaning this work was done which also brought to my attention the last owner had tried to bodge the matrix with silicon! (I also found chopped abs wires, broken slip ring and several trim parts glued on!!) I also started looki
  6. Name: VW Golf Mk3 (1996) Date Added: 15 February 2014 - 07:17 PM Owner: Boneybradley Short Description: Mk3 VR6 running classic 15" Avez's View Vehicle
  7. TPS are franchises (I have 2 accounts for tps, 1 which is run by Sytner group and the other which is JCT600 and I have to use the relevant account for each location as they don't cover each others postcode area's)
  8. KWP are better but I'm not sure if metal or plastic (most vw pumps are now plastic), They are good prices as my cheapest by BGA is £34 (then again I wouldn't sell Circoli)
  9. well temp sensor ordered (will be with me to fit Monday) here's hoping for an easy fix and I can get driving it again (I miss the noise! Driving the 8v Anni is not the same)
  10. Well I am going to try a coil pack and also do the temp sensor due to the erratic readings, (It's a shame vcds can't narrow it down for me!)
  11. I am having really bad miss fires (and low low power/stalling) on my obd2 2.8 and before spending money on various parts I was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction. When first started cold it drives fine until it gets some temperature when it misses and it's also fine for a minute or two when started when warm and then again misses, I have looked for arching on the coil pack but didn't see anything (I also checked leads and no arching was spotted) I have scanned it on vcds and it shows a lambda fault code (then again it's had this since I bought it and I put this down to
  12. Update for my VR It was the matrix and had being bodged by someone using silicone sealant to stop it leaking! I also found out the airbag and abs system had also being bodged and it's needed both front abs sensors and the wiring to them fixed (the wires had being joined together so the light went out!) and the airbag needed a new slip ring (which had being glued, again to turn the light off!)
  13. Update for my VR It was the matrix and had being bodged by someone using silicone sealant to stop it leaking! dash out big job time!
  14. I've just saved a mystic blue VR that was listed to break. Let us know ow you go on fitting the matrix as my car leaks and that's a possibility!!
  15. Well we have not found where the leak is but I'm sure I saw a drip near the expansion bottle this morning but it didn't drip once warm and the water stayed on level. The only way I got the water to drop in the bottle was by driving it hard and the water certainly dropped a bit on the level once I got back but again there was no sign of dripping! I am going to replace the expansion bottle and bottom pipe to this as it seems rather flimsy. I will see and hope that cure's it? It's confused me and my mechanic! (but both parts are quite cheap as I'm a febi dealer so wont break the bank if that do
