Any performance rods and piston needed, or standard alone okay?

The engine has done around the 120k mark from what the last owner tells me, when I bought it that was the first thing I listened for but the engine runs sweet! The more I lift the bonnet the more I can see the conversion I was a rush job another reason to pull it out and make it my own! Probably around the 280 - 300hp mark is a rough figure Ickyketseddie, any suggestions on what cams are best? Cheers guys appreciate the advise

Hi all, basically, I've recently bought mk2 caddy with a vr6 conversion, obd1 I believe. I bought as a project really and want to pull the motor out, clean engine bay etc and rebuild with a few modifications for a few more horses. Not knowing to much about the vr engine but always fancied one! Could anyone give me a few pointers regarding best parts and best way to approach something like this, sorry if I come across completely clueless but want to do some home work first, cheers guys!
