  1. Not updated in a while, not much has been happening. Bought a new alloy to replace the one that I broke in the accident, also bought a part worn tyre, Falken 452, I really rate them although lots of people don't. Wheels are now on the car and it's looking fantastic, got the car mojo back! Fitted up new balljoints, new tie rod ends and finished polybushing the front axle so front handles as it should. Next up is rear polybushes, hockey puck front engine mount and exhaust system, as well as a full service, still yet to give it one!!
  2. Just opened it up a bit, need to open it up some more!
  3. Put the car on the rollers at JKM today, very happy with results!!! Other than the BMC CDA and ported throttle body done by me, the car is standard engine wise, so now I know it's healthy inside!!! I didn't even do my usual pre dyno service of plugs and oil, so once I do the plugs, oil, leads and fit the lovely milltek decat I have in the shed, I should be looking at 200hp Roll on the good times!
  4. Stumbled across this, might interest some http://allracingcars.com/volkswagen-golf-mk3-kit-car/
  5. Poly bushes make a huge difference. Huge. The front end feels very tight with them on and the steering feels very much connected to the wheels. Rear end is essential as well, on rubber it feels soft, again poly bushes tighten it up and rear end feels stable and predictable in hard cornering.
  6. Does indeed drive much nicer than before, even though I've still got to polybush the front drivers side and rear axle. Once that's done and I find another team dynamics pro race wheel to add to the 3 I've got, then it'll handle just like my old 16v did. Would like to get some arb's and upper and lower strut braces in the near future too. With regards to the bmc, I can't say I've noticed huge gains to be honest. It does sound amazing however. Deamon tweeks sells 3 types of bmc, with 3 different outlet bore sizes (small engines, high capacity engines and v6 and v8's). Maybe audi requires the lar
  7. Well here is my 1997 vr6 highline. I'm treating this car as my grown up car, tasteful mods and eventually turbo conversion. I've owned it for a couple of weeks and already I've blown £500 in bits and bobs, including coilovers and various suspension bits. Today I went about fitting the coilovers and poly bushing the front end, however the offside front wishbone bolt rounded off so I didn't quite manage to poly bushes both sides, just one. I'll order a new bolt off vw tomorrow and finish the job next Sunday. Car was bought standard and always kept in top condition, pretty untouched, and it showe
  8. http://youtu.be/qhAvWCFOzD4 Fantastic video, too good not to share.
  9. Thinking about it mine was also dry, although I didn't check. Just wash with warm soapy water and let it dry naturally, don't get a hair dryer on it. As I said, oil will kill all MAF sensors.
  10. Is the bmc a dry or a wet filter? If it's a dry filter all you need is soapy warm water and let it dry. If it's a wet filter then you need the appropriate cleaning kit, which will require a re-oiling once the filter is dry. The wet filters harm the maf.
  11. Agree with bealieboy 100%. I only use v power, my abf only ever used v power as well. When I have to use normal unleaded in an emergency I always notice a lazier engine.
  12. With a decat my abf was throatier and backfired more often, performance wise, I can't say I noticed a big difference. Surreyvr6, where did you get your milltek for £400 delivered from?
  13. £400 is not too much out of my budget, I'll look into the Milltek!
  14. Heard good things about magnex as well, what are their prices like? Milltek I presume have colossal prices.
  15. So I'm after an exhaust system, stainless steel. I had a jetex on my 16v which I thought was brilliant, it was the non resonated stainless steel cat back system. Looking at about £300 with the paid member discount, so does anyone have any other exhaust suggestions for round about that price? Other than the crap reducer pipe jetex provide I couldn't fault their system.
  16. This is the key fob. That connector on the back is for when the fob batteries run out, I can unlock the car with key, alarm will go off, and I plug that into a socket in the glove box, which silences the alarm. I would have thought the button by my knee is something to do with the immobiliser?
  17. Received it today and fitted it. Bought a 76mm to 88mm as I didn't find an 85mm one. The MAF side fitted perfectly, but it was too big on the BMC outlet, so I've had to take a knife to it and cut it closer to the 76mm opening. It's about half the length now but it fits perfectly. Cheers James for the measurements!
  18. Ahhh right. Well I've ordered a set of plugs and finally found the dubPOWER website, not dubsport haha. I've ordered a set of 7mm blue HT leads. Didn't go for 10mm as I don't fancy cutting the plastic tabs off the cover and for a standard/mildly tuned engine engine there's not much point in big 10mm ones. Happy days!
  19. Where can i get dubsport ones? Just had a look in Google and dubsport hasn't got a page :/
  20. Yeah no rush mate. Thanks a lot!
  21. As title, I've always used NGK, but their bkr5ekup plugs are so expensive even from eBay. Are there any alternative plugs I can use? I'm also after a set of blue HT leads, would like something that won't ark like cheaper leads I've bought in the past have done. Any recommendations for them too? Thanks guys.
