  4. Yeah any other job they all been really good with The new head was completely new and cast for me , they just fitted extra bits off my old one to the new one , guides and valves and what not and apparently outside company never sent my head back ? It wasn't a skim at all , as said further up my original head had already been skimmed and they refused to work on it anymore hence needing new one , I guess I'm just feeling a bit butt hurt over the price and how long it was delayed for (repeatedly) And yes true , ah ok I know which industrial est you mean , I'll have a look in to them thank yo
  5. Thank you where abouts in dunmow are they ? The garage I used was in dunmow , DMS or dunmow motor services , and they let me supply my own parts too , just found them quite pricey I'm not disagreeing that the head would have to be sent off I just didn't expect to be told "we can't work on your original head you need a new one" only for them to keep my original and apparently refurb it anyway to sell on , without asking me if I wanted it back considering my bill came in at over £1600
  6. Oh :/ that's a bit of a trek for me :/ about 2 and half hours if memory serves me correct from a trip there last year :/
  7. And it's so hard to find a garage willing to work on my car due to the age :/ so I jumped at having them do with when they said they would happily work on it tbh
  8. That's how it should be :/ Where are you anyway ? I'm in braintree Essex I need my brake lines replaced mainly rear but fronts are going too :/ and front discs and pads lol
  9. They were a tad vague on what they have and haven't done test wise , so I'll get them to do that when I bring it back in Jan , and I found it a tad odd that I don't have to bring it back in a few hundered miles to have the head bolts retorqued / checked which I always thought was mandatory :/
  10. Exactly my thoughts on the matter which is down right cheeky because they could of rebuilt it for me for half what they charged me for the new one if that's the case Plus the new one has a higher compression which they said has bumped up my bhp ?? Which is why it's drinking so much fuel :/ like 16-20 miles to a quarter tank :/ for it booked in in the new year for some fuelling tests :/

  12. Yeah true and yes it was either buy a new one or the car stays there in pieces they wouldn't even give me my original one back either :/
  13. Yeah has to just swallow it and pay for a new one as they said old one was already skimmed and they refused to work on it again so didn't really have a choice , though apparently it now runs a higher compression ? And it's drinking fuel like a ...mf :/ even more than it did before it went in , but yeah she's sorted with the new head ,new timing chain kit , all new gaskets , bolts , uprated plugs , service, new thermostat and housing , clutch and ht leads and running a beaut and very thirsty beaut but still a beaut lol so much smoother now And I'm still feeling the sting from the hefty bill
  14. And they won't even entertain putting the car back together again untill I get a new head or they cast me a new one for £400?
  15. Garage did a series of tests and measurements on it and it's previously been skimmed and built up / what not and apparently it can't be done again as there's not enough on there to work with ?
  16. So I haven't posted on here in a while , she's been great untill recently when found out She had a head gasket prob , then it's just been one thing after another Decided to go the whole hog and do timing chain , head gasket , stem seals , new clutch and replace all bottom end seals while I was at it , bills come in quite high and turns out I need a new head too due to negligence of previous owner , so she currently looks like this [emoji174][emoji174]
  17. They said the guides don't need replacing , which I'm kind of happy about as repair bill is around £1700 atm :/
  18. She's done just over 125k and ok I'll ask them if they will do them at same time
  19. 2 years and so far it's been a beautiful albeit costly affair
  20. Hey it's not just a man cave ya know us ladies have garages too
  21. The garage is buying the complete kit ... What I'm asking is can I purchase better quality stem seals on their own , and are stem seal retainers available for a vr6 ?
  22. So just recently found out my head gasket has gone , [emoji22] hence the brown water in my header (that I previously posted about before) While they are doing that they are replacing my stem seals ....is there an uprated version available or can I get stem seal retainers for a vr6 ? - I know they are available for my other halfs vxr- but want to know if it's an option on mine and are they worth it ? If so are they available on their own without having to buy a whole kit ? And if possible can you attach links for me please Im also having the timing chains replaced and uprated clutch fitted at
  23. some People clearly don't understand what " post a SINGLE PICTURE" means :/ lol Ah such childish behaviour [emoji1360] change the OP after I "quote it" [emoji1376][emoji1376]
