  1. Lots of 'can' in those statements. If you're pre-igniting on stock hardware, you're doing something VERY wrong. If you want to waste money, then go right ahead. I recommend using 4 coils per cylinder and cleaning your plugs after every drive, wouldn't want to see carbon in an engine!
  2. Wrong, if it's strong enough spark to ignite the mixture, that's all it needs to do. It either ignites or it doesn't, there is nothing in-between. You will see no appreciable gains from a stronger spark
  3. Why do you need to increase spark? I've run 20psi of boost on stock coils with no problem
  4. Using a Sachs 4 puck sintered clutch with their heavy duty pressure plate, works great!
  5. Got a v6 4motion golf for sale gt3582r at 15-18psi, all the bells and whistles. £5k, strip the performance parts off it or swap the engine if you want to keep the bora. Cheaper/faster than new parts, less than a year on the parts
  6. If you connect to the car using VCDS and scan the engine, it will give you the name of any custom tune that's on it.
  7. On my GT35R, I used a banjo bolt on the oil filter housing and another banjo going into the top of the turbo with no restrictor. But I expect that running though the multiple orifices in the two banjo bolts has reduced the pressure a bit. Best bet would be to phone Owen Developments, telling them that the VR6 can have 100psi oil pressure when cold.
  8. Post this up on the VR6 turbo and s/c Facebook page, they will let you know
  9. Now for auction on Ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222225993807?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
  10. Thanks, phoned up TPS with the part numbers
  11. Hi guys, my turbo V6 4motion is for sale, my build thread can be found here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TURBOCHARGED-VOLKSWAGEN-GOLF-V6-4MOTION-BLACK-TURBO-R32-/222193093201? Description from the listing: This vehicle has been built without compromise, using high quality parts and components to withstand its power increase while keeping factory smooth running and reliability. During the conversion, the timing chains were checked for wear using VCDS which showed low readings, well within spec. The chain and guides were visually checked and had very little signs of wear.
  12. My turbo V6 4motion will be up for sale soon, buy that instead. A full kit containing everything will be very expensive and no one seems to offer it. JBS will do a drive in drive out turbo conversion but they charge an astronomical amount.
  13. Hi guys, just posted up my china GD35 turbo on eBay, as you can see from my 4motion turbo build log it's never been used, only used it as a mock up when building my downpipe. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222174206624?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
  14. Okay great, what tune do you have and what size MAF housing was it designed for?
  15. You can log maf readings with vcds, but unsure what the readings should be. Are you sure the boost isn't blowing out your spark? What plugs are you running and what gap?
  16. I don't have the answer, but check out and join the "Everything VR6 turbo and S/C" Facebook page, mainly people from the U.S. and very popular. They will be able to answer
  17. I have a brand new unused China gt3582r with a. 82 exhaust housing, probably not what you want but I won't be using it

    Engine

What is your setup, boost level and power output? Could be cracked ring lands, turbo oil seals or valve stem seals
  19. Take a look at my V6 4motion build thread, People have made that power with that amount of boost on a completely standard engine, standard compression with good tuning. I don't believe that you need forged pistons for that power level, a spacer designed for either 9:1 or 8.5:1 will work great for you. They spacer manufacturer will be able to tell you what it will drop your compression to. Skimming the head/block will have very little effect on compression ratio unless very large amounts are taken off, but they you run into valve to piston clearance problems etc. Who are you getting
  20. Doesn't seem to be on their website, I would recommend giving them a call. I recently had to replace my compressor wheel due to damage from an oring falling into the intake pipe. £25 for a GT3582R compressor wheel. They buy the GT35 in, then replace the wheels with custom or billet ones so they have plenty cast ones on the shelf which are cheap
  21. Connecting rods and pistons really, a good clutch is a must. Other things like valve springs and cams would help.
  22. I did every bit of spanner work, welding, fabricating etc. myself. Saving me a HUGE amount compared to getting a garage to do it, and mine was over 4k
  23. You will not be able to turbocharge a VR6 to a high standard with a £1500 budget. It's more likely to be 3K+
