Guys and gals An upgrade which I have been looking at for a while, which is going to happen soon now that the engine is in bits But what make is the best for the coolant hoses? Is it really worth going down the silicon route? Yes I would like to add a bit of colour under the bonnet but that's merely cosmetic, do silicon hoses offer more in the way of performance than standard stock hoses? Sorry if this has been asked but I can't find anything using the search function on tapatalk lol Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk

WOW a vast catalogue there i wouldnt buy a cheap third party one anyway. nothing but hassle. for my rebuild it has all been original VW parts from the parts department. valves, guides, piston rings, chains, chain guides, oil pump, pickup pipe, all gaskets. just to name a few. should have totalled over 1k in parts but the fella in beadles gave me 50% off because we were talking about what im doing. he too restores old VWs he said "its about time more people took time over the older (better) vag vehicles" so win win lol

Even if it doesn't have the 4 bar reg they're cheap enough to buy anyway lol Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk

my missus knows my intentions and needless to say she aint happy. to be honest she aint happy anyway unless i buy her a house, get married and give her kids! when will she realise i have a kid of my own already (mk3 gti vr6 that is) in all fairness she is rather understanding - and loves her cars also. so cant really complain but almost 3k on suspension she cant see the point -
Sweet. I'll have a look and see what I can find with regards to upgrades. Saying that I do have an obd1 lump here also. Would that have 4 bar off the top of your head? Now just to decide on the cam I want lol Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk

OBD1 is more expensive than OBD2 heres the link to OBD1 on euro car parts OBD1 MAF cant find anything on GSF - maybe worth giving them a call?

aint it? dashed my hopes and dreams lol! and yeah apologies for hijacking the OP thread lol but look at it this way, at least he has gotten a lot of information lol -
i also remember that you couldnt have the tailpipes protruding past the extremity of the bumper. i dont know if this has changed but i have seen plenty of cars that have pipes coming up from the bbox, past the bumper and stopping near the tailgate (hot rod style) never know things may have changed for the better lol

something about doing my own air ride i dont trust lol, at least with coilies its only 3 bolts. one on the top mount and two on the leg! with air bags there is alot more to go wrong! but i may have a go if big J steps up to the plate and offers some invaluable knowledge! the only air system i work with is the suspension on my Merceds Actros truck at work. not the greatest beast but i have rear-steer too lol -
being ex forces, we had 1 million and 1 uses for military grade green tape. that shit would band anything together! lol as for cable ties theyre good for tieing POWs up and we used to call them "plasti-cuffs" lol

im Kent - just the otherside of the toll - but my unit (and breaking car) is in Basildon yes it is standard. it even has the 3rd brake light on it as for how much - i havent even thought yet, dont even know what they go for. same as my interior, let me get some pics and ill post them up, then you can have a look

Mg bad the specs at Newman are 270 and 288 lol I'll have to have a chat with them and see what they've changed, can't see why 270 wouldn't run on normal injection system with a remap Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
-
Looking at the tech sheet it says 268 and 288 cams won't run on standard injection. Is this right? I'm sure people are running bigger schrick cams and same injection? Or have they upgraded? Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk

They certainly look like they have more clearance than standard u clamps

Hmmmmm that's interesting. I was reading the diy guide on here and I'm tempted but u don't know if I could tackle it lol -
crazy? who you calling crazy? im a madman haha jubilee clips are low profile compared to clamps - but yes i was taking the preveribal! haha and whenever iv done exhaust clamps the exhust has always crumpled where the clamp is. can never be too tight right? tight is good lol

i see what you did there
