  1. It was indeed a long shot I was hoping it may be the miraculous fix! Thats correct, I've had 31 out for a few months now, I managed to crawl under the car yesterday and checked the haldex plug for water or oil ingress and all seemed fine. No problems with 31 in and the haldex unplugged (does ESP run standalone when 31 is plugged in but Haldex is disconnected?) VCDS output tests on AWD module all seems good, precharge pump can be heard engaging and disengaging...
  2. Have had the haldex oil and filter changed, plugged in #31 and sadly the same locking up and bouncing. Some serious creaking from the transfer box region New controller is my next move, OR grab the controller of mums 4mo and give it a try Sorry for long delay!
  3. Thats what it appears, prior to the work the traction light would flash on and off to indicate traction loss, but no power was being sent to the rears atall, the transfer box may have gone pop from all the locking happening at the rear! Haldex oil and filter kit has arrived, this will be carried out this weekend hopefully, and a check on the haldex connector! Will keep thread updated... Cheers!
  4. Thanks for the detailed reply, Been busy with work recently so been using the 4mo on FWD only to and from work and has been going well, Faults are as follows; -------------------------------------------------------------------------------Address 01: Engine Labels: Redir Fail! Controller: 022 906 032 BG Component: MOTRONIC ME7.1.1 0004 Coding: 0000132 Shop #: WSC 314141 Fault Found:17526 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor Heating; B1 S2: Open Circuit P1118 - 004 - No Signal/CommunicationReadiness: 0110 1101 -----------------------------------------------------------------
  5. Getting it hooked up later, will report back, I suppose ABS and haldex are the controllers to look at for this case? Thats exactly what i feels like, both rears are locked together, hence why the more lock, the bigger difference between both rears speed. The old transfer box in the car was blown to bits, and I'm now worried about blowing the new one up.. With fuse 31 out the car is perfect to maneuver, feels massively less 'tight' also, but traction loss is present up to 3rd gear in the wet (as expected) Will running her with fuse 31 out completely cause any major issues? And if so
  6. I'm dreading the possibility that someone has welded the rear differential, surely no one would do that to a 4motion? I see no benefit..
  7. The 4motion is back today. brand new clutch kit, flywheel and airgon gas, Has also got a second hand transfer box fitted. All is good until I full lock and turn the car, the rear wheels lock and then spin suddenly, a lot of noises also, Haldex unit blown? Or sound like it needs a service? I'm certain this car will be great one day... soon....
  8. I sadly told the garage to go ahead as per standard spec prior to hearing recommendations of a single mass flywheel, I have no plans yet to get any more power out of the 4motion, so I assume DMF should be good for years to come? Hi Hutch! I will bear them in mind when looking for work in future, Where abouts in Cheltenham are you?
  9. I have greenflag cover and gave them a rang, but as always despite me explicitly saying 'I need a flatbed' they still turn up with a normal tow truck I'm awaiting trans box then 1 hour labour to fit, and fingers crossed she will run like new Gearbox or trans box? If gearbox I'll say no this time, but thanks for the offer mate, I think (hope) it was the only part that hasn't blown itself to bits.. Cheers all
  10. Garage have rang me, flywheel, clutch, and transfer box have all fallen apart! Transfer box appeared to be off a 4cylinder VAG car, 1.8t audi tt trans box? Big bill:(
  11. Cheers both The fly wheel and clutch release bearing failed.. Quoted £1024 which is for the flywheel, clutch & bearings etc, Not a brilliant start to the year, but at least I'll know a little more about the situation under the bonnet!
  12. Hopefully I won't need to take that offer up But very handy to know if so, what sort of price would you be after and where about's are you in the southwest?
  13. Thank you both Currently suspected clutch release bearing Discussing it with other members @ http://www.vr6oc.com/forum/topic/45828-4motion-great-start-to-the-new-year/ Garage have now got it, and should know the bill in a few days! Cheers, Ben
  14. I think for the sake of a few ££ its worth getting a flat bed out, drove about half a mile with it like this and couldn't bear the grinding of gears Cheers!
  15. Its a massive pity this has happened! Great cars and the other one in the family has been faultless since new in 2003! Thank you VR6CABBS, very tidy for the age and price I got her for, Narrowed it down to the clutch release bearing with the help of kind forum members, next job is to find a good deal for a local garage, The joys! Cheers
