leon263 31
Just a few photos and a quick write up re. our recently finished MK3 VR6 cabby. Originally a 2 litre automatic, a blown engine and gearbox led to the VR6 conversion. We bought a VR with and excellent history and basically transferred everything we needed into the cabby ..... engine, front and rear running gear and we added in a few mods along the way. All bump strips were removed and plated over as were the front side repeaters. US spec running lights were grafted into the front bumper and are now used as repeaters with orange bulbs fitted. Washer jets were smoothed over and MK4 Golf items were fitted to the under side of the bonnet instead. The fuel filler section from a Yamaha FZR tank was welded into the rear wing and the rear number plate plinth was smoothed out and the boot lid is now solenoid operated. Suspension is KW coil overs and the wheels are genuine BBS, jap spec. Subaru items fitted with 195/45/16 Toyos.. Music is provided by an Alpine head unit, Alpine SPX177A components, a vintage Denon DCA 800 amp and a 12 inch Pioneer sub. At present the engine is pretty standard with the exception of a bit of colour coding, a drilled air box, a set of Venair blue silicone hoses and a 'besters' short shift ......... a must for any VR. Current plans are to put a couple of thousand shake down miles on the car and think about the interior and paint over the winter. So far so good, a joy to drive and the engine note is totally addictive. Edited September 7, 2014 by leon263 daveyboy and damian8588
